Florida’s alternative-rock and hardcore scenes continue to thrive, growing stronger each year. This time, the energy emerges from the panhandle city of Pensacola, where Kairo and Snow Halo unite for a split EP, each contributing a new single alongside a cover.

Kairo’s “Signal” picks up where their debut EP After Forever left off, further refining their fusion of ‘90s alternative rock and emo, drawing clear inspiration from Smashing Pumpkins and Sunny Day Real Estate. They also take on “All Flowers In Time Bend Towards The Sun,” the unreleased gem from Jeff Buckley and Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins), reimagining it with a sweeping, alt-rock intensity.

Snow Halo, on the other hand, leans into the heavy, atmospheric sounds of ‘90s bands like Hum and Failure with their single “Contact,” full of soaring guitars. They cover Catherine Wheel’s classic single, “Crank,” staying true to its spirit, with modern production.
